Constellation Studios 2055 O St., Lincoln, NE, United StatesArtifacts presents a solo exhibition of the works of Nancy Childs, a long-time…and beloved… Lincoln artist and educator. Learn this special binding that stitches a multi-legged “creature” across the book covers and spine. It is beautiful and complex appearing, but with a logical repetitive stitch. Pages inside the book can be blank or use your monoprints, drawings, collage for content.
Join us for a low-key experience to draw and continue to learn about media, composition, and observation. A masterpiece is not the goal but seeing and getting “into the zone” will be. Added embellishments with collage will spark new levels and layers of meaning.
Replenish your decorative paper inventory as we make our own in this traditional bookbinder “end of day” use of wheat-starch paste. On simple smooth paper designs are combed and pulled through the color paste, and let to dry for later use for bookmaking, collage, small boxes, cards.
Start now by drying out leaves and flowers from your garden! Press and dry them under books between paper towels or newsprint. Bring in this assortment for printing an elegant series of one-of-a-kind prints. The plant material can take ink and also block ink, giving us an endless creative process….what to do next!
This book project and experience will create a gift, for you or your special one, as a “book in hand” that feels right and real. Materials will be ready, and you can insert pages & remembrances by collage and sewing. Start gathering poems, small memorabilia, stamps, tickets, wrappers, small photos, and printed ephemera.
